The Tour de Yorkshire is Coming to Our Home Town, Richmond (Finally!)

Since the Tour de France swept through Swaledale in 2014, coming close to some of our neighbouring towns and villages, like Reeth and Leyburn, the residents of Richmond (including those of us at UK T&C!) have been quietly seething. Not because of the Tour de France, but because of the Tour de Yorkshire cycling event, which was largely launched in reaction to the brilliant reception the TDF received across the county.

The Tour de Yorkshire has been a success since its May 2015 launch, and has been running for consequetive years since. Much to our susprise, though, Richmond has yet to make it into a Tour de Yorkshire route.

We were delighted to hear recently that, finally, our lovely market town is going to be included! And rightly so, we reckon, as there's plenty of tourist-y spots to check out (when not watching the cycling, of course!) in the town and its surrounding areas. Plus we're all a friendly bunch! The Tour de Yorkshire 2018 cyclists will be passing through Richmond during the event, from 3 - 6 May. Richmond's been selected as part of 2018's lineup of host towns, alongside Barnsley, Beverley, Doncaster, Halifax, Ilkley, Leeds and Scarborough.

This is great news for the town and we're excited to hear more in the new year. Roll on 2018!
